When Iceland's bankers crashed their economy, the idea that the Icelanders themselves and their government should be responsible for that debt was soundly rejected by the people of Iceland. The government collapsed, the IMF threatened, the Icelanders prosecuted the bankers, elected a sympatico government and the citizens are now writing a new constitution themselves.
